One of my favorite things about being a family photographer is that I get to witness and capture beautiful couples in their new roles as parents. This sweet couple was so obviously dedicated and loving to each other, and seemed so effortless in their role as new parents to this sweet baby boy. Their home was decorated with gorgeous photos of their wedding and all their adventures, and now, my heart is overflowing with joy as they will be decorating their home with photos of this new stage & journey in their lives.
Baby A was only 6 days old when I came to photograph this newborn lifestyle session. He was actually due to arrive on May 25, which is my own birthday!! I thought we were going to be birthday buddies! He ultimately arrived a few days later, but in absolutely perfect condition, so we are all thankful for that.
One of my favorite things about this beautiful newborn session is the light, airy, dreamy aesthetic of these photos. Mom and dad both opted to wear white colored outfits which beautifully complimented their white bedspreads. There were also blue accents throughout their home and their photo gallery, as dad opted to wear navy shorts, and the home had blue pillows in the living room, and baby A wore a swaddle with a subtle blue pattern. This lightness and color congruency keeps the gallery consistent and creates a sun-drenched mood for the photos. When planning outfits for your own newborn session, its helpful to consider not only what clothing you have available, but also the decor of your own home, and what will look best with that.
Newborn sessions are designed to be easygoing. They typically list around 1.5-2 hours. They are slow and relaxed, with the baby setting the pace. It’s also especially effortless as the family can stay right within their own home without worrying about packing everything up to travel to a studio. Newborn sessions are best scheduled within the first two weeks after baby’s arrival, but this is only a general guideline. Ultimately, the most important thing is to be relaxed and love on your family. I’ll do all the rest.
