Engagement Session | Memphis, TN | Silicon Valley Photographer

Silicon Valley Family Photographer

This remains one of my favorite photography sessions I’ve ever shot.

This sweet couple is one of the sweetest, kindest, smartest, and most fantastically photogenic couples I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet. They are celebrating their engagement, recent purchase of a house, and planning their marriage and lives together.

How to Dress for an Engagement Session

This sweet bride-to-be had an excellent style for her session. She chose a beautiful flowing dress, with a color palette appropriate for fall. It is OK to have patterns on your clothing, but it’s better to have discreet, smaller patterns, rather than several giant designs. I love her laid back, flowy style.
Her make-up was professionally done, which is something I always encourage my ladies to do. Even if you just visit the make-up counter for some new tips or tricks, I always encourage my ladies to go the extra mile to make sure they look and feel beautiful for their sessions.

Walking through the cotton fields was not necessarily easy! This is one reason I recommend my ladies not to wear heels. Since shoes rarely show in the images anyways, it is better to wear comfortable practical shoes for walking through grass (or potentially mud, depending on the season!)

One memorable and unique element to this engagement session is that her beautiful engagement ring was actually custom designed by her thoughtful fiance! It included elements that were unique, meaningful, and symbolic for her. I think this is one of the most special engagement rings I’ve ever had the beauty to see.

Photo Session Details

This was originally photographed in the cotton fields of Memphis, TN, my hometown. I still accept bookings there now, although I primarily serve the Silicon Valley / San Francisco Bay Area Region. I am based in Santa Clara County.

This session was photographed using a Canon 5D Mark IV and a 50mm lens, right at sunset during the golden hour. All images are edited completely by hand using both lightroom and photoshop.
