San Francisco Bay Area Beach Engagement Photos

Today, I'm thrilled to share this exquisite Bay Area engagement session with you. We captured stunning moments outside the Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay. The couple, in celebration of their recent marriage, chose the Ritz-Carlton for their honeymoon, creating the perfect setting for our photos.

An aspect often overlooked is that San Francisco Bay Area beaches can be foggy, cloudy, and moody, particularly during the warmer summer and fall months. When planning the shoot, I provided an estimated start time. However, anticipating a foggy day, we opted for an earlier session to ensure ample light. The final gallery beautifully embraces the foggy, overcast vibes, with the couple's wedding attire harmonizing seamlessly with the landscape – a true reflection of a Bay Area beach during this season.

This gallery unfolds across two adjacent beaches in Half Moon Bay. The first set captures the couple against beautiful cliffs adorned with pink flowers, followed by a five-minute drive to another beach with easier walking access to the water.

Safety is paramount when photographing by the beach, especially along the windy and sometimes wave-heavy Half Moon Bay coastlines. Always check the weather forecast and have a solid backup plan in place.

Shot on my Canon R6, with a 28-70mm and a 50mm lens, I prefer lower apertures, typically ranging from f/2.0 to f/2.2. The finished photos underwent edits in both Lightroom and Photoshop. Meeting this delightful couple from the Midwest was a joy, and I am grateful they now have these photos to immortalize their love story. The bride shared her plan to print the photos extra large for their wall, creating a daily reminder of their special connection.
