Bay Area Family Photos on Golden Californian Hills
There is no scene quite as iconic as the beautiful rolling golden hills of Northern California. This is one of my most requested locations for families in the Bay Area. This location is conveniently located in Palo Alto and easy to access. One advantage is that it also doesn’t require a permit! It is mostly an open space, so on days when there is no cloud coverage (like in the session below), a photographer must be creative and experienced to work artistically with the direct sunlight. Fortunately this is one of my most popular client choices, so I have a lot of experience working here!
For family photo sessions, we typically plan to meet about 60-75 minutes before sunset. I shoot until we run out of light and can’t continue shooting. This location has a lot of scenic diversity, which helps to diversify a gallery and overall create stronger images for the family to choose from. On cloudy days, I may request to start your family photo session a little bit earlier to accommodate the lower light situation.
I met this sweet mama through instagram of all places! Her instagram page, TheWayWeBay, is a seriously AMAZING resource for local mamas to get tips and tricks about various activities in the Bay. I have learned SO much from her and have loved connecting with her. Meeting her & the family in person was fantastic! She boasts a big family, with four beautiful children and a wonderful and fun husband. They emanated so much love and joy towards one another, it was easy to photograph.
One thing that makes this family photo gallery so special is the natural and authentic interactions. I always encourage my families to hug, kiss, snuggle, laugh, play, tickle, dance, and just be freely themselves! That is how I capture such beautiful moments.
This family photo session was photographed before sunset in the SF Bay Area peninsula near Palo Alto. Their finished gallery included 60+ timeless and authentic family photos they will cherish forever. All images were photographed on a Canon 5D Mark IV and a 35mm lens. These family photographs were handedited in a combination of both Lightroom and Photoshop.
